JRS Photos of the Month November 2022

Asahikawa is the northern limit of JR Hokkaidō’s Hakodate Main Line, which features Ltd Express service to Sapporo. It is also reportedly Japan's coldest city.

This month we take a look at rolling stock in and around area.

All Photos taken by Anthony Robins on 25th September 2022.

KuHa 789-202 leads the formation of the ‘Lilac 26’ limited express service for Sapporo at Asahikawa Station.

H100-72, a member of JR Hokkaidō’s latest local train type stops at Shin-Asahikawa on a working bound for Kamikawa. The H100's are based on JR East's GV-E400 DEMU's and will replace the last of the JNR era KiHa 40's.

Many empty stock movements pass through Shin-Asahikawa on their way from JR Hokkaidō’s depot at Nagayama such as this KiHa 150 bound for Asahikawa.
