Heavy-load transporter number ShiKi611 included in a freight train seen heading south through Omiya station. This is one of only two such wagons, and is capable of transporting loads of up to 240 tonnes sandwiched between the two halves on a total of 24 axles.

An E2 series shinkansen set pulls into Omiya station with the Asama 514 service from Nagano to Tokyo. This equipment is capable of operating on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz (25 kV AC) power supplies, with a maximum speed of 260 km/h. Similar sets in 10-car formations are used for Tohoku and Joetsu Shinkansen services.
