Echigo-Ishiyama Tower A manned tower or signal box at Echigo-Ishiyama located at the throat of Niigata station, the end terminal of the Shinetsu Main Line. The train is 115 series in Nigata livery. Taken by Hiroshi Naito in May 1999.

Tower at Harutori yard of Taiheiyo Coal Mining Kushiro Colliery A manned tower or signal box at Harutori yard of Taiheiyo Coal Mining Kushiro Colliery. The tower governs freight only traffic between the colliery's shipping yard and port. Taken by Hiroshi Naito in February 1999.

An old tower at JR Nagoya stationAn old ex-national railway type tower at JR Nagoya station. This tower seemingly is unmanned. The reason why the tower is kept remained is not known. Modern series 85 DMUs in Toyama-link limited express service busily pass by the tower.

New-Gifu TowerA manned tower at Shin-Gifu terminal on Nagoya Railway, a private railway covering the Nagoya area. Manned towers locally governing station traffic with relay interlocking are still common on this railway.
